The genesis of The Zero Percent Institute wasn’t found in a textbook; it was forged on the pavement of Santa Monica Boulevard in 2006.
At the time, Avery was a recent graduate of Centennial High School, simply heading to the L.A. Recording School for class. In an instant, a "normal day" turned into a high-stakes tactical extraction. With LAPD helicopters beaming spotlights from above and shotgun barrels pressed against the back of his neck, Avery was forced face-down onto the asphalt. His belongings were destroyed and his vehicle ransacked—all for the "crime" of having a school parking placard in his rearview mirror and a claim of mistaken identity.Â
When Avery and his mother sought justice at the station, they were met with a business card and a hollow apology. That moment of shock and disbelief sparked a lifelong realization: The system is a closed loop, functioning only for those who understand its internal mechanics. Being "innocent" isn't enough; you must be "literate."
From Target to Beneficiary
This traumatic encounter drove Avery into a deep-dive study of the divide between Common Law and Statutory Law. His research led him to the power of Writs and Injunctions, tools used to hold oath-givers accountable to the Constitution. Through this journey, the ultimate truth was revealed: The system is a Trust. Avery discovered that the agents of the state were the Trustees, and he was the Beneficiary. He realized that these entities work for themselves until they are formally placed on notice—at which point, they are legally required to work for you.
Testing the Theory
Avery began filing injunctions across various counties to assert his standing. The results were immediate and undeniable. Routine stops changed overnight. When officers ran his name, they found a man who knew his position. Even in instances of clear statutory violations—lack of tags, speeding, or no insurance—the interactions shifted. Because there was no injured party, and because Avery had established his role as the Beneficiary on the private side, the "enforcement" ceased.
The Mastery of Global Commerce
Seeking to deepen his understanding, Avery looked beyond domestic borders. He discovered that teachers from the Middle East—specifically within Egyptian, Armenian, and Saudi Arabian cultures—possessed a profound, esoteric understanding of U.S. law and financial literacy that far surpassed what was being taught on home soil. By befriending and serving these mentors, Avery gained rare access to private wealth libraries.
